AI Search Optimization for HVAC Companies Measured every month
Homeowners now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI answers who to call for AC repair or a new water heater, and those answers name only a few companies. TradeOps Consulting is a marketing agency for HVAC and plumbing companies. We work to get your company named in those answers, and we measure it every month.
Who AI search optimization is for
HVAC and plumbing companies that already have a Google Business Profile and website, and want to know whether AI assistants mention them when homeowners ask for a recommendation in their area. It works on top of local SEO, so it suits companies with SEO in place or starting it at the same time.
It’s one of our HVAC marketing services and is available to plumbing companies too.

What AI search optimization is
AI assistants build their answers from sources they can find and trust: your website, your Google Business Profile, directories, review sites, articles and lists that mention you. If those sources describe your company clearly and consistently, AI tools are more likely to include you when someone asks who to call.
You’ll also hear it called AEO (answer engine optimization) or GEO (generative engine optimization). We treat it as part of SEO, with its own measurement.
What we do
Structured data
Schema markup for your business, services, service areas and FAQs, so search engines and AI crawlers can read who you are, what you do and where.
Entity consistency
Your name, services, phone and address matched across your website, Google Business Profile, Yelp, Facebook and industry directories.
Answer-ready content
Service, location and FAQ pages that answer the questions homeowners ask, in plain sentences an AI can quote.
Mentions in trusted sources
Work to get your company listed and described on the directories, local pages and articles AI tools draw from.
Reviews
A steady flow of detailed Google reviews, which AI answers often lean on when recommending local businesses.
How we measure AI visibility
AI answers change from one run to the next, so a single screenshot proves very little. We measure with a fixed method and report the trend:
- 01
A fixed prompt set
We agree a set of prompts with you before work starts, written the way homeowners ask: "best AC repair company in [your city]", "who should I call for a water heater replacement in [your city]", and questions about your services. The wording stays the same every month.
- 02
Four AI platforms
Each prompt runs on ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude with web search on. We also log whether Google shows an AI Overview for the search.
- 03
Repeat runs
Every prompt runs three times on each platform in fresh sessions, so we report how often you appear, like 2 of 3 runs, never a single yes or no.
- 04
Baseline first
The first run happens before any changes, so later months are compared with where you started.
Every answer is saved word for word before it’s scored, so the numbers can be checked.
What you get in the monthly report
- Mention rate: the share of answers that name your company, with the number of answers behind it
- Citation rate: the share of answers that link to your website as a source
- Recommendation rate: the share of answers that suggest you as a company to hire
- Results split by platform and by prompt, so you can see where you’re strong and weak
- The competitors named most often in the same answers, and the sources AI cites for them
- Errors in how AI describes your company, and what we’re doing to correct them
- The work done that month and the trend since the baseline
What we can and can’t promise
No one can guarantee that ChatGPT, Gemini or Google’s AI Overviews will name your company, and we don’t. AI companies change their models and sources without notice, and answers vary between runs and locations. What we do promise is the work above and an honest measurement of whether it’s moving your numbers.

Pricing
AI search optimization isn’t a separate line on our plans page yet. We scope it with your SEO work on the call. Monthly plans start at $2,000 a month, and SEO on its own is $2,000 a month. See all plans and prices.

FAQs
How is AI search optimization different from SEO?
SEO aims to rank your pages in Google’s results. AI search optimization aims to get your company named and cited inside AI-written answers. Much of the work overlaps, so we run them together, but we measure AI visibility separately with a fixed prompt set.
Can you guarantee my company will show up in ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews?
No. Nobody controls those answers, and any agency that guarantees placement is overpromising. We report how often you’re named and cited across a fixed set of prompts, so you can see whether the work is helping.
Which AI tools do you track?
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, each with web search on. We also record whether Google shows an AI Overview for each search.
How long before AI answers change?
It varies. Structured data and listing fixes can be picked up within weeks, while mentions on other sites take longer. That’s why we compare each month with the baseline rather than promise a date.
Does AI search optimization replace SEO?
No. AI tools lean on the same signals as local search: your website, Business Profile, reviews and mentions elsewhere. Strong SEO makes AI visibility easier to earn.
Does this work for plumbing companies?
Yes. The method is the same. The prompt set uses plumbing questions, like who to call for a burst pipe or a water heater replacement in your city.
