How Much Does HVAC SEO Cost?
· Yash Singh
Most HVAC companies that hire an agency for SEO pay somewhere between $1,000 and $5,000 a month. That is the range several HVAC-focused agencies publish for 2026, and it lines up with a broader survey of what SEO agencies charge. Where you land in that range depends on your market, how many locations you serve and how much work your site needs.
Below are the published numbers with their sources, what moves the price, what you should get at each level, and our own prices. TradeOps sells HVAC SEO, so we have tried to keep our prices in their own section and let the market numbers speak first. Prices were checked on 13 October 2026.
HVAC SEO Price Ranges: What Agencies Publish
There is no official price list for SEO, so the best evidence is what agencies publish and what surveys report. Every figure below is a vendor's own published number unless noted, so treat them as reference points rather than a market average.
| Source | Published range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ahrefs survey of 439 SEO professionals | Agencies average $3,209/month; freelancers average $1,348/month | All industries, not HVAC-specific. The most common agency retainer band was $500 to $1,000/month. |
| Built-Right Digital | $1,000 to $5,000/month | HVAC agency. Also lists one-time projects at $2,000 to $10,000 and hourly work at $100 to $300. |
| PipelineOn | $1,500 to $3,500/month standard; $800 to $2,200 budget; $3,500 to $5,500 multi-city | Residential HVAC, single metro for the standard tier. |
| Paradigm Media Networks | $500 to $1,200 basic; $1,500 to $3,500 mid-tier; $3,500 to $7,000 competitive metros; $7,000 to $15,000+ multi-location | HVAC agency pricing guide. |
| DAGMAR Marketing | $1,500 to $2,300/month per physical location | Page last updated in 2021, so likely low for today. |
| SEO Bandwagon | $995/month, month-to-month | A single published package price. |
Put together, a single-location HVAC or plumbing company in an average market should expect quotes of roughly $1,500 to $3,500 a month for a full program. Busy metros and multi-location companies sit higher. Quotes well under $1,000 a month usually cover Google Business Profile upkeep and a few posts. PipelineOn puts it bluntly: below $1,000 a month "you're getting GBP posts and not much else."
What Drives HVAC SEO Cost
- Market competition. Ranking for "AC repair" in Phoenix or Houston takes more content and authority than in a small town. Several of the guides above price competitive metros at $3,500 a month and up.
- Number of locations and service areas. Each Google Business Profile and each city you want to rank in adds pages, citations, reviews work and reporting. Some agencies price per location for this reason.
- Starting point. A slow, thin website with no service pages needs a heavier first few months than a site that already ranks on page two.
- Content volume. Service pages for each system type (furnaces, heat pumps, mini-splits, water heaters, drain cleaning) and each city cost real writing time.
- Link building and digital PR. Earning links from local and trade sites is labour-intensive and often the biggest difference between a cheap and an expensive plan.
- Tracking and reporting. Call tracking and CRM integration so you can see cost per booked job add setup work, but they are what make SEO measurable.
- Who does the work. Freelancers usually cost less than agencies. The Ahrefs survey found agencies charge more than twice what freelancers do on average.
What You Should Get at Each Price Level
These are typical scopes, not rules. Ask any agency to list monthly deliverables in writing.
- Under $1,000 a month: Google Business Profile management, posts, review requests and basic citation cleanup. Fine for a small town with little competition. Not enough to move rankings in a metro.
- $1,000 to $3,500 a month: profile management plus new and improved service and city pages, technical fixes, some link building, call tracking and monthly reporting. This is where most single-location HVAC and plumbing companies land.
- $3,500 a month and up: several locations or a competitive metro, more content each month, active link building and digital PR, and deeper reporting tied to your CRM.
How Long Before SEO Pays Off?
SEO is slow at the start. Built-Right Digital tells HVAC clients to expect 3 to 6 months for results, with map rankings sometimes moving within weeks. PipelineOn says to expect 6 to 12 months before organic leads outpace what the same budget would buy on Google Ads. Google's own hiring guide suggests asking any SEO "What kind of results do you expect to see, and in what timeframe?" and warns that "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google" (Google Search Central).
A simple way to check the math: work out your average gross profit per job, then how many extra booked jobs a month would cover the fee. If one replacement job a month covers your retainer, the question becomes whether the agency can show it is producing those jobs. That is why call tracking and booked-job reporting matter more than the price itself.
How SEO Pricing Models Compare
- Monthly retainer. The most common model for local SEO. Ongoing work, reported monthly.
- One-time project. An audit, a site rebuild or a batch of service pages. Useful to fix a foundation, but rankings fade if nothing follows.
- Hourly. Common with consultants and freelancers for specific fixes.
- Pay per lead or pay for performance. Less common for SEO. Read the definition of a "lead" carefully and ask who owns the pages that produce them.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does HVAC SEO cost per month?
Published 2026 agency pricing puts most HVAC SEO programs between $1,000 and $5,000 a month. Single-location companies in average markets commonly pay $1,500 to $3,500. Competitive metros and multi-location companies pay more.
Is cheap HVAC SEO worth it?
It can be in a small, low-competition market where profile upkeep and reviews are enough. In a metro, plans under $1,000 a month rarely include the content and link work needed to move rankings. Ask for the monthly deliverables in writing before deciding.
Does SEO for plumbers cost the same as HVAC SEO?
The drivers are the same: market competition, number of locations and the state of your website. Plumbing and HVAC companies in the same city usually see similar quotes. A combined HVAC and plumbing company needs pages for both trades, which can add to scope.
Is Google Ads spend included in an SEO price?
No. SEO fees pay for work on your website and Google Business Profile. Google Ads and Local Services Ads have their own ad spend, plus a management fee if an agency runs them. See our comparison of SEO vs Google Ads for HVAC companies.
How do I know if my SEO spend is working?
Track calls and forms from organic search and your Business Profile with call tracking, tie them to booked jobs in your CRM, and compare cost per booked job with your other channels after 6 months. Rankings alone don't pay the bills.
